The completed M101 image after processing in PixInsight and Photoshop.

The steps used were:

  1. Screen stretch to examine data and look for issues (linear)
  2. Calibration (bias + flat-field)
  3. Defect removal (bad column)
  4. Alignment
  5. Stacking (median combine)
  6. Deconvolution
  7. Curves (Photoshop)
  8. Sharpening of galaxy core only (Photoshop, Unsharp mask)
The raw data was a set of three 180-second images obtained with the one-meter telescope.
